The Cayuga Nature Center is once again re-envisioning our annual Maple Fest celebration! Due to the ongoing pandemic and local health guidelines, we wonβt be having our annual pancake breakfast, but we will be hosting a series of maple-y festivities March 13-27!

Tales of Trees
Stop by the pavilion to learn all about trees! Weβll take a look at some tree cookies and learn about what clues they can give us into a treeβs life.
How much carbon does a tree store? We can measure that!
Trees are carbon storage experts. They take in carbon dioxide from the air, and store it in their wood, roots, and leaves. Did you know that one simple measurement can give you an estimate of how much carbon a tree stores? Weβll measure trees and make these estimates, and talk about the role of trees and forests in reducing global warming.
