The Community Collaborative Rain, Hail, and Snow Network is a citizen science based project out of Colorado that asks participants to record precipitation in their backyard and upload the data to be shared nationally. It is hoped that increased precipitation monitoring in many different places will help scientists better understand the spatial variability of precipitation. Also, in some instances, weather information gets send directly to the National Weather Service to issue severe weather and flash flood warnings. Visit them on the web at
