Welcome! Please join us on Saturday, July 29th and Sunday, July 30th for our 11th Annual Summer Symposium at the Paleontological Research Institution!

Saturday, July 29

Posters and presentations by professionals, students, and amateurs whose research covers paleontology, earth science, biology, environmental science or science education. Breakfast, lunch, and the evening barbecue are included with registration.

Saturday will also feature a keynote speaker, Dr. Neil Landman of the American Museum of Natural History. Dr. Landman is a leading expert on the evolution, life history, and systematics of externally shelled cephalopods, particularly ammonoids and nautiloids. Read more about Dr. Landman’s work here.

Sunday, July 30

An all-day field trip will be led by Dr. Carlton Brett from the University of Cincinnati and Dr. Gordon Baird from SUNY Fredonia and will focus on the Finger Lakes’ Devonian geological history. The field trip will run from 9am to 5pm and attendance will be capped (see registration page for details). Field trip registration includes lunch, but guests are encouraged to bring their own snacks and water. Please be sure to bring hats, sunscreen, sunglasses, etc. and wear closed toe shoes. Note: There is the potential for wet feet, so please consider bringing extra footwear.


Online registration is now closed, but same-day registration will be available for the Saturday event.
