Paleontological Research Institution

The Paleontological Research Institution is seeking a part time Visitor Services Associate to provide our guests with a high level of customer service. The position is responsible for a broad range of activities including selling tickets and memberships, engaging with guests, and handling questions and complaints.

Visitor Services Associates are an integral part of the Paleontological Research Institution. As ambassadors, associates are PRI’s connection to over 30,000 visitors per year. You will have the opportunity to gain knowledge on a wide variety of topics through our temporary exhibitions and public programming, meet and converse with interesting people and be a part of a dynamic staff. 

Responsibilities will include:

  • Directly interact with the public, providing exceptional customer service
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of museum programming, temporary and permanent exhibitions, membership benefits and events, and all operational changes
  • Collect and report to Associate Director all feedback from Guests, both compliments and complaints to use for organizational improvements
  • Update the admissions monitor with information about upcoming events and programs
  • Open and close exhibits
  • Operate the Point of Sales
  • Complete daily sales reports
  • Research new and appropriate items for the Retail Store
  • Place orders and receive store inventory
  • Create fun and relevant store displays
  • Compile visitor data for demographic evaluation and research
  • Assist in preparation for special events and public programs
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualified applicants will:

  • Professionalism, patience, and manners with diverse populations from around the world
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to troubleshoot customer service and technological issues; assessing when to escalate to management
  • Must be able to work in a collaborative team environment, but also independently as needed
  • Enjoy channeling their creative energy into results-oriented projects with a strong attention to detail
  • Must have a reliable form of transportation to both facilities
  • Have a High School Diploma or Equivalency Certificate
  • Have flexibility with availability including working evenings, weekends, and holidays

Part time: 20-25 hours per week
