Camp Staff


Our Summer Camp staff is made up of a wonderful team who are dedicated to the safety and education of all our campers. We pride ourselves in having a carefully selected and screened staff roster where everyone has experience in education and/or environmental science. The administrative heads of our Summer Camp are:

Summer CampDayna Jorgenson

Director of Nature Center Programs

Dayna joined the Nature Center in 2009 to lead the Animal camp programs and assist as a TEAM Challenge facilitator. She rose to Environmental Education Manager and Camp Director in 2014, and the Nature Center Program Director in 2018. Dayna enjoys the opportunity to combine her interests in the natural world and science education to bring unique and entertaining programs to both the summer camp and other Nature Center public programs. Dayna holds certifications in Wilderness First Aid, CPR for the Professional Rescuer and Lifeguarding.

Summer CampKatie Bagnall-Newman

Environmental Education Manager/Camp Director

Growing up in Northeastern Wisconsin, Katie worked as a Summer Naturalist at Peninsula State Park while pursuing a degree in Environmental Education. After completing her degree she moved into a position at the Door County Adventure Center leading and coordinating overnight camping and kayaking trips as well as high ropes course programs. Katie joined the PRI staff in 2018 as the Assistant to the Director. Continuing to pursue her passion of creating connections between people and the natural world, she is moving to the position of Environmental Education Manager and Camp Director at the Nature Center this summer. Katie holds certifications in Wilderness First Aid, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, and Lifeguarding.

Summer CampKate Nelson

Education Associate

Katelin Nelson joined the Nature Center crew in 2015. She started as the preschool camp counselor and stayed in that position for three years. Katelin found fulfillment in the “little” things and sharing the love of the outdoors with the “little” campers. Last year she became part of the administrative staff as the Education Associate, helping make things run smoothly and creating the schedules for the camp groups. Because of her love for childhood education and the love of nature she has found her niche here at the Nature Center. She currently holds a CPR and Basic First Aid certificates.
