PRI Collections Staff endeavor to respond to all reasonable requests for information, images, loans, and technical analysis/destructive sampling of our specimens.

Information and Photo Requests

Information and photo requests may be sent to the Collections Department by emailing [email protected]. For cataloged material, please include the catalog number and taxonomic name, reason for the request (e.g. photos for publication or study), and any other relevant information (e.g. specific orientations for photographs).

Loan Requests

Research loans are defined as loans of material for the purposes of scientific study. Loan requests may be sent to the Collections Department by emailing [email protected]. Please include the catalog number and taxonomic name of the requested specimen(s) if known.

Approved Borrowers should allow a minimum of two weeks for loan requests to be processed. More time may be required if requesting uncatalogued material, which must first be cataloged before it can be loaned.
Click here for more information about becoming an Approved Borrower.

All Approved Borrowers must read and abide by the general terms and conditions for research loans.

Technical Analysis/Destructive Sampling Requests

As destructive sampling is sometimes necessary to address scientifically important questions, PRI is receptive to requests for conscientious, technical analysis/destructive sampling of its specimens, which enhances their scientific value.

Please write to [email protected] to inquire about loans for exhibition, education, and other non-research purposes.
