Museum of the Earth to Host Sensory Friendly Hours

Museum of the Earth to Host Sensory Friendly Hours

(ITHACA, NY– July 6th) The Museum of the Earth is pleased to announce that it will be hosting Sensory
Friendly Hours on the third Sunday of each month from 8:30am to 10am. These hours are designed to provide a
more comfortable and inclusive experience for visitors with sensory processing disorder or other developmental
disabilities.

During Sensory Friendly Hours, some of the exhibits that may be loud or bright will be turned off. This will create a
quieter and more relaxed environment for visitors who are sensitive to sensory stimuli. There will also be a
designated quiet space in the classroom, where visitors can color, draw, or simply relax in a low-sensory
environment.

In addition, there will be fidget tools available for use and take home, as well as sensory packs that can be
requested from the front desk. Space is limited to ensure a comfortable environment for visitors, so registration is
required. Admission for this program is on a sliding scale, so visitors can select an admission price that works
best for their household.

Sensory Friendly Hours are made possible by the generous support of the Community Foundation of Tompkins
County.
